Vision Statement –
The Living and Learning Experience of a Lifetime

A student’s place of residence, while attending the University of Rhode Island, should be more than just a place to sleep.  We believe that it is a place in which student discovery, pursuit of new opportunities, and success in addressing challenges are cultivated every day; a place where robust learning and development occur.  The living and learning experience at URI directly contributes to our students’ academic success, persistence through graduation, and the successful transition to life after college.  To that end, we seek to provide the “living and learning experience of a lifetime” for each of our residents.

Mission Statement and Organizational Values

The mission of the Department of Housing and Residential Life is to provide quality campus housing at a competitive price, in residence halls and apartments, which supports the educational goals of the University as well as the developmental needs of its student population.  All housing shall provide safe, clean, and well maintained accommodations and a sense of community which encourages personal rights and responsibilities, conformance to Rhode Island laws, respect for human dignity, support for diversity, and pride in the University of Rhode Island.

The Department of Housing and Residential Life believes that the following principles should apply to every work situation, every day:

  • We value continuous improvement in the services we provide in order to maintain customer satisfaction.
